DAVID MOYES GETS INTO ACTION WITH EXTENDING FERDINAND'S CONTRACT AT OLD TRAFFORD.
Ferdinand, 34, signed a one-year contract extension with theRed Devils which
will take him into his 12th season at Old Trafford.Incoming manager Moyes approved Alex Ferguson’s recommendation that the
veteran defender deserved a new deal for playing a key role in the club’s
Premier League title triumph.Moyes, who does not officially replace the retiring Fergie at United until
July 1, said: “It is clear for everyone to see that Rio has had one of his
best seasons with the club.
Ferdinand made 34 appearances for United this season, including 28 in the
Premier League,more than any of the club’s other central defenders. He was
also named in the PFA’s Premier League Team of the Year.The new deal comes just a week after Ferdinand announced he was retiring from
international football to concentrate on prolonging his Old Trafford career.
