ARSENAL CAN NOW AFFORD TO SIGN WAYNE ROONEY ,SAYS CHIEF EXECUTIVE GAZIDIS.

Wayne Rooney is the subject of plenty of speculation once again, and it seems as if Arsenal are willing to splash the cash for the Manchester United forward. Chief executive Ivan Gazidis is adamant Rooney’s wages and a transfer fee of around $37 million can be arranged, if Arsene Wenger wants to sign the striker. Arsenal’s transfer policy is set for a change this summer, with the frugal spending to make way big-name signings. With Champions League soccer on offer and plenty of young talent, Rooney and other superstars may be looking at the Gunners in a different light, also speculations surrounding rooney that he  is not happy at old trafford gives strong indications that he may make a move to arsenal.Chief executive Ivan Gazidis said the Gunners CAN afford to pay Rooney more than £200,000 a week and Manchester United a £25million fee.He was adamant only boss Wenger will decide whether to bid for the England striker. But he claimed Arsenal are finally willing and able to make the stellar signings required for a genuine title challenge, smashing their rigid pay structure.

“I’m talking about an extra £70m of additional, high-margin revenue — so of course we could do that.“We could do more than that.”It is a massive boost to long-suffering fans desperate to see big-name signings after eight years of losing their best players and winning nothing says Gazidis.

Arsenal also have serious interest in the Real Madrid strikers Gonzalo HiguaĆn and Karim Benzema – one of whom is likely to be for sale this summer. Both are 25 and they comfortably fit the superstar profile.
